MARGUERITE MCKAY (nee BRIGHT) After a long struggle with dementia, Marguerite passed away peacefully with her daughter Betty at her side, at Oakview Place on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at the age of 84 years. Remaining to forever cherish Marguerite's memory are her son John (Valerie), Jordan and Joel of White Rock, BC; daughter Betty (Dan), Andrew and Jeffrey of Winnipeg; sister Betty McMillan and niece Margaret McMillan of Selkirk, MB; as well as many other extended family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill in 1993. Marguerite Bright was born on January 30, 1923 in Prince Albert, SK. She met and married the love of her life William John McKay while he was in training in the RCAF in 1943 and waited for him to return from the war whereupon they started their life adventures together. Mom and Dad made their home in many northern communities in both Ontario and Quebec, settling in Montreal in 1956 for nine years until 1965 when they made the final move to Winnipeg. After working many jobs to supplement the family income, mom retired from the Winnipeg Free Press in 1978 to help Dad run Coleville Landing Marina in East Selkirk until she retired fully to run the house on Moray and play bingo which she enjoyed for many years. She and Dad both made many long lasting friendships along the way. In compliance with Marguerite's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private family interment will take place in Vancouver, BC, in August. The family wishes to extend an invitation to join them in a tea to celebrate Marguerite's life on Wednesday, June 6, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive. The family wishes to thank the staff on 3 South at the Grace Hospital for their care and kindness and special thanks to the many staff and caregivers at Oakview Place who loved and cared for her over the past few years. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation in Marguerite's memory to a charity of their choice. Marguerite's arrangements have been entrusted to Manitoba's largest Original Family Owned Funeral Service Provider: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
