Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID ALBERT DEALLY March 9, 1928 - May 29, 2007 David was born and raised in Fort Rouge in a home with his brother, two aunts, parents and grandparents. He attended Kelvin High School and United College. David spent his summers at Grand Beach working as a Free Press carrier, and met the trains with his wagon to deliver passengers' luggage and groceries. He was a Sea Cadet as a youth and worked his way up the ranks to the top. Dad had a varied working life, starting out driving a horse-drawn wagon delivering parcels for Eatons and later bread for a local bakery. His next calling was as a commercial traveler. His territory was Manitoba and North-Western Ontario. He was employed by Imperial Tobacco, B.F. Goodrich, Fleming Pedlar and R.E. Spear. In 1979 he purchased Doran Agency with his partners, wife Margaret and Emily and Denis Lambert. Dee-Dee was a third degree mason (Northern Light Lodge #10) and a dedicated member of the Khartum Temple Komedians. He was twice president of his unit. The highlight of his year was constructing props and performing skits for the Shrine Circus. He loved to help the ringmaster count the clowns who appeared out of the Volkswagon Bug. His weekends in November and December were spent clowning at Christmas parties and he never missed the opportunity to dress in full makeup and visit children in hospital. His favourite place was his cottage in Grand Marais. Weekends and holidays were enjoyed working around the cottage and yard. His collection of bottles is legendary as is his unique method of displaying them. The best times were a yard full of neighbours and family sampling chokecherry wine and Dave's Old. More recently his best-loved hobby was sewing aprons and oven mitts for his favourite ladies. Over the years Dave volunteered at the River Heights C.C. calling bingo and staffing the drink booth and cooking hotdogs at the winter carnival. Coaching basketball and volleyball at River Heights school filled some Friday evenings. In retirement he worked diligently to research our family tree, contacting relatives all over North America, keeping up-to-date with all the cousins. OUR FATHER'S GIFT He gave us something special Not things bought from a shelf Yes love but so much more He thought and planned and worked To make our world a cherished place He taught us with a laugh, a smile And guided us as well He gave the greatest gift of all He gave to us himself David was predeceased by his parents Margaret and David; his Auntie Bea, Uncle Albert and Auntie Nell. He will be remembered and missed by his wife Margaret (Young); his daughters, Liane (Alex) and grandson Wolfgang, Carole and sons, Kevin and Gregg; his brother Donald (Patricia) and their family; his cousins, Judy McSkimmings, Barb Stefansson and Jan Gault survive him.
