DOREEN COOKE (nee BROWN) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Doreen Cooke, after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer, on May 31, 2007. She was 70 years of age. Cremation has taken place. She leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Bill; daughter Darcy (James); son Bill (Nancy); grandchildren, Jesse, Chris, Austin and Hunter. Mom was born in Pelly, Saskatchewan on October 25, 1936 to Mabel and Gordon Brown. She was one of 12 siblings. She moved to Winnipeg at an early age and married dad in 1961. Mother was the most generous and giving person we knew. Her greatest joys in life were gardening, spending time with her family and caring for everyone, especially her grandchildren. We all have many warm and wonderful memories of her. A special thank you to all the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, GD Wing on the 4th floor for their kindness and compassion. A reception in honour of Doreen's life will be held on Sunday, June 10 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Club Regent Casino Hotel, 1415 Regent Ave. W. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Rest with the Angels, Mom. You are greatly missed and deeply loved.
