MICHAEL MARCENIUK It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael on Thursday, May 31, 2007 after a lengthy illness with heart and lung disease. Michael will be sadly missed by his wife, Olga; four children, Beverley (Ron), Shirley, Darlene (Kevin) and Barry (Marnie); 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers, John and Nick; sisters, Rose and Mary and by many other relatives and friends who cared deeply for him. He was predeceased by his parents, Metro and Lena, as well as his brothers, Carl, Leonard, and Victor. On February 10, 1919, Michael was born in Pine River, Manitoba. He served proudly with the Winnipeg Grenadiers in the Aleutian Islands in the Second World War, and held close the memories of that time. He walked tall throughout his life, a hero to many who knew him, an inspiration to those who met him. Michael was known best for his kind and giving ways, his brilliant mind, and industriousness that never flagged. He will live on in the hearts of many. Michael appreciated the kind care of his physician, nurses and staff of 4 North at Victoria General Hospital. His family is deeply grateful to them all. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Michael's name to the charity of your choice would please the family. A celebration of Michael's life for family and friends will take place Tuesday, June 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Dakota House, 1145 Dakota Street.
