Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACOB BRANDT Jacob Brandt passed away on June 2, 2007 in Steinbach, Manitoba. Jake was born on April 22, 1940 in Blumenort Manitoba, to Frank and Margaretha Brandt. He was raised in Blumenort. In the late 1950s the Frank Brandt family moved to the Mennville, Manitoba area. On October 25, 1963 Jake married Mary Klassen in Mennville. During the following years, Jake was employed as a carpenter. He and his young family moved many times, living in such varied places as Black Lake, Wawota, Bassano, Hudson Bay, Rosemary, Brooks, Saskatoon, and Moosomin. Jake and Mary returned to Mennville. He continued working as a carpenter, including a number of years on Hecla Island with the Department of Natural Resources. After their four children were grown, Jake and Mary moved to Winnipeg to manage an apartment block. After 10 years, Jake and Mary retired to Steinbach. There, both of them enjoyed many hours volunteering at the M.C.C. Thrift Store. Jacob Brandt is survived by Mary, his wife of 43 years; their four children, Randy (Susan), Darlene (Doug), Michelle (Dominick) and Connie (Kevin); grandchildren, Jordan, Russell, Nick, Jessie, Elizabeth, Hannah, Jacob and Emily, stepgrandchild Carrie; three brothers, Levi, Ben and Peter, and seven sisters, Mary, Erna, Bertha, Teena, Margaret, Leanne, Laura and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Margaretha Brandt. The funeral will take place at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6. A viewing will take place at Birchwood Funeral Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5. Donations, in lieu of flowers, in memory of Jacob Brandt may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9.
