SYLVIA D. BJORNSON Our mother, amma, sister and friend., Sylvia D. Bjornson of Riverton, MB, age 69, passed away at Gimli Community Health Centre on Saturday, June 2, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 3, 1937, in the Municipality of Bifrost, Manitoba, to the late Halli and Anna Bjornson. Sylvia's greatest enjoyment was raising her three daughters. She was a loving, kind and generous mother who selflessly gave her best. Her hard work ethic began at Kardy's Hardware in Gimli, and from here she moved to Portage La Prairie and became Assistant Manager of Hardware with Canadian Tire. From there, she ventured back to Gimli, and once again worked at Kardy's Hardware. She then immersed herself in floral design courses and became owner of Gimli Florist where her natural passion and talent to be creative flourished. In retirement Sylvia lived a quiet life in Riverton, MB, being available to many who needed a helping hand. Through her own personal trials and tribulations, Sylvia's most precious gift was her generous spirit, always willing to help others in whatever way she could. Sylvia is well remembered for her determination and will, always giving her best in the variety of endeavours she undertook, never shying away from any challenge. Her many hobbies included sewing, knitting, crafts and, of course, she loved music and spending time at the lake fishing. Sylvia is survived by her children, Beverley, Donna and Sandy; three grandchildren, Brandon, Jill and Shea; her sister Peggy (Barry) Gudmundson, and her brothers, Stebbi (Delores) Bjornson, Buddy (Dorothy) Bjornson and Irvin (Shelley) Bjornson. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, numerous relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Halli Bjornson. Memorial services for Sylvia D. Bjornson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church. Pastor Trudy Thorarinson will officiate.
