Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST LOWELL WHALE With great sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Ernest Lowell Whale announce his passing on Sunday, June 3, 2007. Ernie was predeceased by his wife Thelma; his granddaughter Katrina Theresa Heron; his parents, and six of seven siblings. Ernie is survived by his daughter Teresa (Jim) Heron, his grandchildren, Brendan, Robert and Bradley Heron; his son David (Lynda), and his sister Evalda, who turned 99 on May 17, 2007. Ernest, the great-grandson of a Canadian pioneer and the son of a Manitoba pioneer, was born at Winnipegosis, November 2, 1913, to Thomas and Sarah Ann (nee Peacock) Whale. The youngest of eight children, Ernie grew up in Winnipegosis and worked in his father's store. In 1942 Ernie married Thelma Gudrun Stevenson, then at the outbreak of the war, he joined the army, was posted in Halifax, where he ran a radar unit for the duration of the war. After the war, he and Thelma returned to the Manitoba North, where they lived in the tent city at Snow Lake while he worked at the mine. With the impending birth of their first child Teresa, they moved to Flin Flon where their second child David was also born. While in Flin Flon, Ernie worked at Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting. In 1951, the family moved to Winnipeg where Ernie was employed by Eatons until his retirement in 1978. In his later years, when he was not having coffee with his niece Thelma, he could be spotted, snoring, in front of the big screen TV at Kiwanis Senior's Complex. The family would like to express our sincerest thanks for the care and kindness shown to Dad and to the family by all the staff of the 4 South Step-Down Unit at St. Boniface Hospital, and to friends and family who have been there for us during this difficult time. Cremation has taken place, and as per Ernie's wishes, no funeral service will be held. Interment will take place at the family plot, in Winnipegosis at a later date. Dad we will miss you, but we will always remember to remember and be grateful for you NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200 www.nbardal.mb.ca
