HORACE TOTTLE 1919 - 2007 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. Dad slipped away in his sleep on his 88th birthday on June 4, 2007. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Marie; his five children, Cliff (Patricia), Greg (Susan), Jeff (Pam), Joel (Bev), Laura (Patrick); 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Doug (Hilda); his sister Evelyn, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Ethel, and brother Ray. Dad was born and lived in Weston all his life. He was a member of the 112th Auxiliary Squadron R.C.A.F. and was called to active service in 1939. In 1942 he married his soul mate Marie. Upon his discharge in 1949, he gained employment with the Manitoba Telephone System as an engineer's assistant, working there for 35 years. Dad enjoyed an active life. In his youth he played hockey with the Winnipeg Monarchs, until his first job delivering groceries by horse and wagon took over. Later on, he switched to curling and swimming. Winters were spent playing canasta and bridge with their many friends. But his greatest joy was puttering around the cottage that he, Marie and his boys built at West Hawk Lake. Dad was a family man at heart and quietly enjoyed the many occasions when all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren came together. For 65 years, Dad was a member of Sparling United Church. His church and church family were central to his life. Special thanks to the staff and doctors at Grace Hospital, 3rd Floor for their kindness and excellent care during Dad's final days. Viewing will take place at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, June 7, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held at Sparling United Church 1609 Elgin (at Worth Street) at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, followed directly by a reception with an interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Dad's name to Sparling United Church. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 Broadway - 783-7211 www.thomsonfuneralchapels.com
