EARL GEORGE MURDOCK STRANGER With his family by his side, it is with sadness that we announce the passing of Earl Stranger, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, at Percy E. Moore Hospital in Peguis, MB on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at the age of 80 years. Earl was born on May 4, 1927 at St. Peter's, MB and resided in Peguis, MB. He was predeceased by his parents, Solomon and Annabella; his brothers, Frank, Freeman, Melvin, Roderick, David, and Jim; his sisters, Betty, Nellie May; and his grandson Adam. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nellie; his children, Doreen of Morden, Bob (Bev) of Peguis, Bev of Peguis, Wayne of Winnipeg, and Darrell (Aimee) of Portage la Prairie. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren, Melanie, Earl, Michelle, Lindsey, Joseph, Jordan, Darrell and Brianna; three great-grandchildren, Mairyn, Madison and Braelyn, and special pet Brown dog . Earl is also survived by his brothers, Leslie, Dennis, Ernie (Florence), Winston (Joy), Franklin; sisters, Annabelle, Ollie, Jeanette, Kathryn; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stranger, Margaret Stranger, Karen Stranger, Mary Blain, Elizabeth (Cal) Lawrence and Evelyn Sinclair, and his brother-in-law Jim (Gail) Sinclair. Earl attended school at the Elkhorn Residential School and later in Winnipeg. Earl worked as a fisherman and pulp cutter in his early life. He also worked for the Peguis Band as a carpenter, and later worked in maintenance and housekeeping at the Fisher River and Percy E. Moore Hospitals until he retired in 1991. Dad worked hard all his life and could fix anything. After his retirement he loved to putter around fixing things. He could often be found outside in one of his sheds. Dad enjoyed watching hockey, especially watching his grandchildren playing hockey. He was also an avid fan of the Peguis Braves baseball team, loved a game of golf and in his earlier years loved to curl. He was also a pool shark and liked playing darts, shuffleboard and horseshoes. Dad was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He loved to be outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He especially loved to sit by a fire and share stories with his friends and family. He had a sly sense of humour and loved to tease his grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Earl's life will be held on Friday, June 8, 2007 at the St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Peguis, MB at 3:00 p.m. with interment to follow, Reverend Barry Bear officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Percy E. Moore Hospital and all others for their kindness and support.
