Mom was born on October 18, 1916 in Winnipeg. At the age of six she moved, with her parents, to Dallas, MB. She lived there until she was 19, then she left to go to Winnipeg to make her fortune. She came home for a visit and our Dad came over and asked her to marry him. She said YES!!! They were married August 7, 1938 and that is how her life in Red Rose started. She worked hard, in Red Rose, with Dad and raised five children. On February 16, 1982 Dad passed away. Mom continued to farm alone until she got ill in the fall of 2003. She moved in with her daughter Delores and she lived there for four years. In November of 2006 she went into Deer Lodge Nursing Home, until her passing. Mom loved her cattle, chickens, garden and anything to do with the old fashioned way of farming. A day of hard work made her happy. Mom could not drive but after Dad passed away she learned to operate the Massey. She looked very serious driving in her A W toque, with her dog, Goldie, running beside. We always enjoy listening to Mom's stories of the olden days. Mom was a true pioneer.
