PETER SIEMENS 1930 - 2007 With sorrow-filled hearts, we announce the unexpected death of Peter Siemens on June 6, 2007. Left to mourn are his loving wife of 55 years, Loneta; his children, Gordon (Cheryl) Siemens, Lori-Ann (Ernie) Knodel, Thomas (Terri) Siemens; his grandchildren, Jeff (Karen), Samson and Cassandra Siemens, Steven and Cara-Lee Knodel, Matthew, Michelle and Michael Siemens; and his great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kenneth and Scott Samson. Also surviving are his siblings, Al (Gloria) Siemens, Welma (Harry) Pankratz, Vern (Denise) Siemens, Walter (Hildegard) Siemens, Jacob (Marilyn) Siemens, Betty (Doug) Nissan, Don (Shirley) Siemens, Louella (Bernie) Siemens; sisters-in-law, Kaye (Jim) Grose, Mary Lou Leslie, and numerous nephews and nieces and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Mary Siemens and by his sister-in-law Terry Siemens, sister and brother-in-law Sue and Walter Dirks. Peter was born in Superb, Saskatchewan on February 7, 1930 to Peter and Mary Siemens, the second child and first son in their family of 10. He moved with his family to Alberta where he met and married Loneta Halliday on July 9, 1952. They started their family of three children while in Alberta. Peter was always involved with the automotive industry from early in life - first as a mechanic and partsman and later, with his 30 year career, with Ford Motor Company. His work with Ford included moves to many parts of Canada and to East Africa. After his retirement January 1, 1986, he enjoyed many trips to various parts of the globe, including China, Australia and the Amazon, and indulged in extra visits to children, grandchildren and siblings. His hobby at home was his flower garden and minute trivia on the sports pages. A man of complete integrity, Pete's loyalty to family, friends and employer was unwavering. He was a man of strong faith and served in many capacities in various churches during his moves. We have lost a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital and the I.C.U. Unit for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church, 3428 Portage Avenue, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace General Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3M7.
