PHYLLIS MARIE MACDONALD-HOLDER (nee MOORE) Phyllis died on June 8, 2007 and has gone to be with her Lord. Phyllis was born on October 25, 1933 in Cartwright, MB. She was predeceased by her father, Andrew Jamieson Moore (1996) and her mother Eva Gladys Moore (Bridges) (2003), of Mather and Cartwright, MB, respectively. Surviving her are her best friend and husband, Frederick Barrington MacDonald-Holder, and her daughter from a previous marriage, Dawn (Grant) May, and her sister Doreen Joyce (Jack) Parker and their family. Phyllis started school in Starbuck, MB and then attended John M. King, General Wolfe, and Gordon Bell schools of Winnipeg. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a B.S.W. in 1974, and an M. Sc. (Psych.) from Washington State University in 1978. She worked as a social worker in the field of drug and alcohol in Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Vancouver. Moving back to Winnipeg, she worked as an Employee Assistance Counsellor for the Manitoba Telephone System. She opened the Employee Assistance Counselling program at the Health Sciences Centre in 1984 and was there until her early retirement in 1996. Phyllis was extremely dedicated to her work and was known to walk the extra mile whenever necessary. She loved her work and cared deeply for her many clients. Both Fred (Doc) and Phyllis travelled extensively and were known for their love of animals. They entertained lavishly, largely due to Phyllis' love of presentation and Fred's cooking. They were very active in the Kinsmen Reh-Fit Centre and sang for the Stradbrook Senior Choir. ANIMA CHRISTI Soul of Christ, sanctify me, Body of Christ, save me, Blood of Christ, inebriate me, Water from the side of Christ, wash me, Passion of Christ, strengthen me, O good Jesus, hear me, Within thy wounds hide me; Suffer me not to be separated from Thee; In the hour of my death call me, And bid me to come to Thee, That with Thy saints I may praise Thee Forever and ever. Amen. Special thanks are extended to good friend Heather for her heartfelt help and support, and to Victoria General Hospital staff for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phyllis' name to the Winnipeg Humane Society and the Kinsmen Reh-Fit Centre. Funeral service will be held at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford Ave., with Father Massie officiating, on June 12, at 11:00 a.m. service will terminate at the church.
