JOHN (JACK) FISHER It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Jack at his residence on June 7, 2007 in Petersfield, MB. Jack was born in Selkirk on July 8, 1942 and was raised in Netley on the family farm. He is survived by his brothers, Jim (Barb) of Gunton, MB, and Joe of East Selkirk; sisters, Jean Carter of Clandeboye, Ada (Karl) Schalk of Petersfield, Betty (Don) Schofield of Selkirk, Peggy (Raymond) Janisch of Petersfield and Irene (Jerry) Schmid of Petersfield; brother-in-law Les Cosens of St. Andrews; sister-in-law Elaine and Alice Fisher and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack worked for the Union Stock Yards in St. Boniface starting there when he was 15 years old and living on his own. He then moved to the Manitoba Hog Marketing Board, working there for many years. In later years, he worked for the RM of St. Andrews. Jack loved watching old western movies and listening to music and also liked to play the guitar and sing. He had a love of books and read many. He took great pride in his home and his yard. In his younger years, he liked to go duck hunting. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Lorne and Elizabeth; brothers, Harry and Robert; sister Pat Cosens and brothers-in-law Chester Schofield and Edwin Carter. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with the Ven. Rev. Godfrey Mawejje officiating. Interment will follow in the St. George's Churchyard Cemetery, Wakefield just north of Clandeboye, MB. His pallbearers will be Brian Schofield, Ron Schalk, Robert Cosens, Dugald Carter, Kyle Fisher and Lorne Fisher. Rest in peace Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
