Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHONOURABLE JOHN ALTON DUNCAN 1932 - 2007 On Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Jack Duncan, aged 75 years, of Winnipeg, formerly of Morden, MB, passed away after a very short illness. Jack was husband of Margaret (nee McIntosh); son of Alton and Jessie Duncan; brother of Jim and Joy Duncan of High River, AB, Jane and Weldon Ridley of Kelowna, BC, Joanne and Carl Hudson of Philadelphia, PA; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Jack graduated from Morden Collegiate Institute in 1951; received a BA from United College in 1954; a law degree from the U of M and was called to the bar in 1958. He practiced law with his father Alton, Ken Hanssen and Gordon Hoeschen for 33 years. Jack was appointed to the Queen's Council during that time the Court of Queen's Bench (Family Division) in Brandon in 1991. He transferred to Winnipeg Family Court Division in September of 1996. During his legal career, he held the position of President of Manitoba Law Society from 1980 to 1981 and was a life member of the Manitoba Benchers. Jack was an active community volunteer. He was a fireman and fire chief, a member of the Elks and Kinsman clubs, past President and honourary life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Morden Branch No. 11; he was on the Board of Stewards of St. Paul's United Church, a Hospital board member, on the Beach Committee as well as numerous others. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He played saxophone with the Jones Boys Orchestra in the 1950s, he was a pilot and member of the Morden Flying Club, a motorcycle enthusiast, a train and model train buff, successful curling competitor, golf duffer and overall sportsman. All of Jack's nieces and nephews enjoyed his enthusiasm. He fostered close family and friend relationships. We will all miss him! A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church, 353 Thornhill St., Morden. Thank you to the staff of the Boundary Trails Health Centre Palliative Care Unit for their kind and caring attention. Flowers are gratefully declined.
