Date of Passing: Jun 10, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHANN PETER (OPA) 1932 - 2007 On June 10, 2007, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side, Johann passed into the hands of his Lord. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Stephanie; two sons, Norbert (Lori), Rolf (Jessie); and two precious grandchildren, Katrina and Lane. Johann was born on November 3, 1932, in Konigsberg, Czechoslovakia. He immigrated to Germany at a young age where he met his wife and began his family. In 1960 he made the decision to move his young family to Canada and settled in Winnipeg. Johann had many different jobs to support his growing family, staying with Whitler Furniture for many years, finishing his career retiring from the River East School Division. Opa loved spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan who never missed his children's or grandchildren's sporting events. His strength, support, wisdom and sense of humour will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know him. The family would like to thank Dr. L. Tan and his staff, Dr. A. Leylek, all the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and all staff on GH6 at the Health Sciences Centre for their outstanding level of care, kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
