CLAIRE GRACE SHAW (nee STAINES) October 14, 1941 - June 10, 2007 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Grace Shaw following a lengthy illness. Grace was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Clara; her brother Fred and sister Margaret Cameron. Grace is survived and will be missed by her son Jason (Jodi); grand-children, Raegen, Graeme and Rebecca; her siblings, Martin Staines, Billy Staines, Arvid (Ruth) Olsen, Mammie Perry and Colleen (Nick) Koswin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, close neighbours and friends. A special thank you to her niece Robin (Morgan) Koswin for all her help over the years. Grace was born and raised in Regina until she moved to Winnipeg with her sister Colleen. Upon arriving in Winnipeg she worked at Harman's Drugs. Grace always dreamed of travel and when the opportunity arose she moved to New Brunswick. While there she married and moved to British Columbia, where she gave birth to her only child Jason. Following her accident she returned to Winnipeg where she took great pride in raising her son, learning to drive a car, tandem parachuting and working at the Park West Dental Clinic. After many years she moved to her final job at the HSC at the U of M Dental Clinic. Following her retirement she moved to the Rosh Pina Housing Co-op where she served on the board and made many lasting friendships. Mom had a free spirit and determination like no other. She did things her own way and her strong opinions will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her grandchildren always made her smile and she loved to brag about them to her many friends. Grammy will be greatly missed. A special thank you to the many healthcare providers that worked with Grace at home and in the hospitals over the years, especially Laurie and Ursula. We would also like to extend our appreciation to the caring Unit Assistants, Nurses and Doctors on G-D4 at HSC who made her final days peaceful. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 15, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Chapel, 943 Portage Ave. (Aubrey Street entrance). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Grace's memory to the Canadian Paraplegic Association, 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200 www.nbardal.mb.ca
