Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYRA ANTEN GRAY 1923 - 2007 Myra Anten Gray was born June 30, 1923 to Father Marian Andrew Sarmatiuk and Marie Anten Sarmatiuk in Toronto, ON. Her childhood was spent in various parishes throughout Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Alberta with the happiest years in Oshawa, ON. She moved with her mother and brother Andrew to Winnipeg in 1939 where the family began a successful restaurant business, Santen's Grill. In spite of the demands of the family business, she graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1945 being one of the first women to do so. She met and married Earl Norman Gray of Winnipeg on September 19, 1949 and became a homemaker, extraordinary cook and constant source of love, support, and friendship to their two children - Tim and Lisa. Myra passed away peacefully on Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB. She was predeceased by her parents, Marian Andrew and Marie, her brother Andrew, and her husband Earl. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Tim (Louise Scrivener), and Lisa (Harold Watt); her beloved grandchildren Giordana Cote (Craig), Giancarla Rempel (Garreth), Alexander Gray, Gabriela Gallo, Christopher Gray, Marco Gallo, and Margaret Antonia Gray; as well as, her five step-grandchildren, Joanna, David, Michael, Matthew, and Peter Watt. Also left with beautiful memories of their Aunty Myra are her nieces and nephews, Susan, Peter, Martha, and Sandy, their spouses and families; Jamie, Susan, Janet, Gray, and Scott, their spouses and families; and her life-long best friend and sister-in-law, Dorothy Sarmatiuk. A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Friday, June 15 at 11:00 a.m. A Mass in memoriam will be held on Sunday, June 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Christ Our Savior Catholic Church in Steinbach, Manitoba. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Myra Gray may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. David Horne and the staff of Bethesda Hospital for their compassionate care through many difficulties. She was greatly loved and will always be remembered for her intellect, her wit, her courage, and the unconditional love she gave so generously to her family.
