ROBERT HUGH (BOB) WHITEHILL With deep sorrow we announce the passing of our dearest Bob on Saturday, June 9, 2007, at the Grace Hospice with family at his side. Bob's courageous battle ended and his sweet soul set free. Remaining to forever cherish Bob's memory are his mother Jan Fardy; stepfather Jim Fardy; stepson Lance; brothers and sisters, Jim (Denalda), Bev (Greg), Doreen (Tom), Diane (Ross), Mike (Darlene); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews who adored their good natured and adventurous Uncle Bob. He was predeceased by his father James Whitehill; and his precious daughter Tonya Kirchen. Born on February 19, 1956, Bob attended Britannia elementary, Stevenson Jr. High and Sturgeon Creek High School where he graduated with honours in 1974. Until his illness Bob was the epitome of happy-go-lucky. He went through most of his life with a smile, a chuckle and an Ahhh that's ok attitude. A gentle giving soul who perhaps gave a lot more than he received in this life. Bob absolutely loved people. Whether he had a dime in his pocket or not, he was overly generous to those he held dear. Bob's other great loves include animals from butterflies to bears but most notably his blessed doggies Monty and Amy. We hope you are all romping around together somewhere now. And music! Bob made his living playing drums in bands such as Windbridge, Nite People, the Roy Petty Group, Montana, and Passing Lane to name a few. We'll always remember Bob lying on his bed with his headphones blasting one of his favourite records, or playing CCR etc. tunes in the garage with his school chums. Bob worked for a short time for Bee Clean up until his illness in 1999 and as usual made many good friends there. Bob's funeral service will be held on Friday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive. At this time the family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to the staff at both Riverview Health Centre and Grace Hospice with a special thanks to Dr. Hartley. The nurses and volunteers at Grace Hospice were there as much for the family as for Bob this last week. We would also like to thank Doreen Donnelly for her never ending support and always being there for Bob, Mom and the rest of the rowdies and for being a good friend to Bob these past years. Last but certainly not least, the family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Bob's homecare giver Edd Diesberg. Edd, you went above and beyond the call of duty so many times. You were best buddy and close family to Bob. Words can never express our sincerest thanks to you. To all above you have restored our faith in mankind. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to The Winnipeg Humane Society 5 Kent Street, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7. Bobby, we love you and wish you long deserved peace. WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665

  • Working in a band with Bob was always a pleasure and he made it fun. We most certainly had many adventures together travelling from town to town. Always the professional he held us all in time with his solid beat. It’s been many years since we had any contact but I have thought about him often. My wife and I were quite shocked to hear of his passing as he and his partner became quite good friends with the two of us. Always in my heart and forever on my mind with the best of memories. • Bob was a very good friend of mine as a teenager, the sort of friend that one never forgets. He was the most positive person that I have ever known. His favorite saying that he said often was: "Life's great!!!!". I always appreciated his optimism, honesty and humility. It was clear to me that Bob really lived his life for his family and his friends. It has been more than 40 years since I first met Bob, but he's the sort of person that one remembers fondly. He was an amazing human being. I'm indebted to him for all the great lessons that he taught me about life. - Posted by: Garry Burgess (Friend) on: Oct 25, 2014
