SISTER CLAIRE JOBIN
Date of Passing: Jun 12, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySISTER CLAIRE JOBIN (FRANCIS CHRISTOPHER) On June 12, 2007, Sister Claire Jobin SNJM, (Francis Christopher) quietly answered God's final call, Come, Claire, take for your heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world. Claire was born to Frank Jobin and Bernice Jobin (Donovan). She is survived by her sisters, Donna (Puff) Craig, Frances Dupres (George); and her beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Francis Lawrence (Bud); as well as her sister Lloym (Skip) Joyce. Claire's life journey led her through 12 years of education at St. Mary's Academy where she made life-long friends. In 1955 Claire entered the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in Montreal. When she returned to Manitoba, she shared her enthusiasm and love of athletics with the students she taught at St. Mary's Academy, St. John Brebeuf, St. Maurice Roch and St. Boniface High School. At St. Emile, St. Gerard and Holy Rosary, Claire shared her faith with the parish community. Her sense of service and her creativity then called her to teach English to Senior Refugees at White Flower. Her respect and sensitivity to the cultural differences represented in her classes resulted in the formation of a caring community. While forthright and independent Claire was always responsive to the urgings of God. She spent much time in prayer and solitude. When she became ill she asked God, What are you asking of me before I return to you? She lived each moment of her hospital stay living out that question. Her family, her Community and her life-long SMA friends remember Claire for her ability to turn ordinary events into a celebration. Even as she was at Grace Hospice, she invited friends and family to the celebration of her 50th Anniversary as a Holy Name Sister and joined them in spirit. Imagine her delight today when she received God's final invitation to the heavenly banquet. Sincere thanks to the staff at Grace Hospice who looked after her so caringly and to her niece Gina who journeyed with her throughout her illness. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and prayers will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in Residence Despins, 151 rue Despins. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 15, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave., with interment to follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.
