EVELYN MARY MURPHY August 26, 1920 June 7, 2007 Mom passed away peacefully surrounded with the love of her family. Evelyn was born in Treherne, MB but was raised in Winnipeg where she met, and later married Leonard Murphy on July 5, 1941. They settled in the Fort Rouge area of Winnipeg and later moved to Elmwood where they raised their three daughters. Mom worked for Eaton's from the mid 1950s until she retired. She loved to travel and toured Canada and visited many parts of the United States including Hawaii, Alaska, and Florida. She vacationed in Jamaica, Portugal, Mexico, and North Africa. She moved to Riverside Plaza on Henderson Highway and later moved in with Colleen for six years. She resided at Concordia Village for a short time. She enjoyed her time with her many friends at the Good Neighbours Senior's Club that she joined in 1983. She was proud to have held executive positions from 1985 to 1993, including Treasurer, Activities, Vice President, President, and Past President. She enjoyed her card games with the bridge bunch at Bronx Community Club. Mom's greatest joy was her family and was always there for them. She had such strength and saw us all through our hard times and all the good times. Her thoughts were it could be worse, be thankful . She loved to be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren teasing, and was playful to the very end. Her life was one of love, strength and style. She lives in our hearts forever. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Len; her loving parents, Hugh and Marjorie MacDonald; her brother Maurice; her grandson Denis James; her granddaughter Laura Hebert (nee Navitka). She is survived and forever loved by her daughters, Judy (Zennie) Navitka, Colleen (Ron) Bayrak, and Phyllis (Mitch) Kasprick; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A private family memorial will be held. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn. The family would like to thank the N1 North staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and support of Mom and her family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Diabetes or The Heart and Stroke Foundations. Wheeler Funeral Chapel and Reception Centre, 211 Regent Avenue - 224-1525.
