ELSIE SMITH (nee BURRON) January 11, 1920 - June 11, 2007 With sorrow filled hearts we announce the passing of Elsie, 87 years of age, on June 11, 2007. Elsie was predeceased by her parents, siblings and her husband Thomas Benton. She will be loved and remembered by her daughter Dianne; grandson Benton (Gloria) of Regina, grandson Perry (Paula) of Winnipeg, granddaughter Candace of Winnipeg and grandson Todd (Danielle) of New York; and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Chelsey, Alec, Zachary, Sabrina, Alissa, Johnathon, Michael, Diana, William, Karen, Kristin, Debra and Gage. Elsie was born in Winnipeg on January 11, 1920 to Edmund and Margaret Burron who immigrated to Canada from Romania. She married Ben on July 18, 1942. Elsie was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She took great pleasure in cooking for her family. She was an accomplished seamstress with an eye for perfection. As a hobby she indulged in arts and crafts and served on a panel of judges at the Red River Ex. Her true love was for her grandchildren, around which her world revolved. She would drop everything when they walked in the door. The grandchildren have many happy memories of Christmas spent with Gram and Gramps and summer vacations in the Whiteshell at Brereton Lake, swimming and fishing. Please join us for a celebration of her life on Monday, June 18, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 708 McCalman Ave., with viewing to take place one hour prior. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
