Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE (KAY) SEMCHUK It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Tuesday, June 12, 2007. Mom was born on February 13, 1921, in Oshawa, Ontario. This is where Kay met and married her beloved John on May 8, 1943. Dad predeceased her in September 2001. Catherine was also predeceased by her parents Luke and Kashka; and eight siblings. During their union of almost 60 years Kay and John relocated to Winnipeg in 1950 where they raised their family. In retirement, they enjoyed many wonderful years at their winter home in Florida. Baba was an excellent cook keeping true to her Ukrainian heritage. Her crafts and baking were enjoyed by all, especially by her grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her passing, children, Mariann (Richard) Chornenki, Roxana, Ryan (Steinunn Bessason), Robert (Karen), Luana (Freddy) Khoury; grandchildren, Adam and Alana Chornenki, Steven (Lisa) Vasko, Blake (Heidi) Vasko, Kristin, Lauren and Caitlin Semchuk, Catherine Khoury; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Olivia and Alexander. She will also be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the staff at Betel Home for the exceptional care given to our mother. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m., with viewing one half hour prior to service, at Glen Eden Funeral Home.
