TRIJNTJE (CATHERINE) VANDERPLOEG On the morning of Tuesday, June 12, 2007, after a lengthy confrontation with age and infirmity, Trijntje VanderPloeg (DeVries) entered her final rest, aged 93, supported to the end by her children. Mom was born on January 4, 1914, in Hallum, Friesland, The Netherlands and immigrated to Winnipeg with her husband and children in May 1951. Mom was a devoted wife and mother who truly loved and cherished her family. Mom had a strong faith in God that was sustained by the words of scripture, especially Psalm 116. Her faith was evident throughout her whole life, especially during the early and challenging years after immigration. With faith and stoic determination she was supportive of her husband and children, and also provided a home for many young immigrant boarders from Holland, giving much needed surroundings of tradition and comfort. Mom loved music and loved to sing and was a long-time member of her church choir. In their retirement years, Mom and Dad travelled to Holland many times, appreciating family and familiar places. Mom was predeceased by her husband Cornelis VanderPloeg in December 2001; and son Pieter in 1944. She is survived by her three children, Albert (Wilma), Pearl (Nico Hogeveen), Dorothy (Gerben Bosma); 15 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Meindert DeVries (Trudy) of Winnipeg and three sisters in The Netherlands. At this time, the family would like to thank Dr. Hamm and the nursing staff of Kildonan Personal Care Home for their compassionate care and love given to our Mom. Viewing will held at Friends Funeral Service on Monday, June 18 at 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on June 19, 2007, at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Ave., Winnipeg, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bill Tuininga officiating. A private interment service will be held at Glen Eden Cemetery in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Youth for Christ - Turning Point, 325 Talbot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2C 0P9 FRIENDS FUNERAL SERVICE, INC. 2146 Main Street 339-5555
