ELIZABETH KELLY Elizabeth Kelly (nee Twomey) was born August 1, 1918 in Camrose, AB. She moved to Winnipeg as a young girl where she spent the remainder of her long life caring for others and her eight children. She completed her life's journey peacefully on June 10, 2007 in Winnipeg, MB with loving family by her side. Elizabeth was an amazing woman who possessed both strength and courage. Her smile would light up every family and social gathering. Her faith in God and love of family provided a strong role model for her eight children. She will be remembered for her sense of beauty, poise and her warm hospitality in the family home and at the cottage. She was the eldest daughter of a family of nine children of Olga and Jeremiah Twomey and is survived by her older brother Jerry and her youngest sister Shelagh Twomey. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Patrick Kelly, and her daughter Shelagh Butterworth. Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered by her surviving seven children and their spouses, Michael (Doreen) Kelly, Catherine Kelly, Mary Lou (Bruce) Smith, Elizabeth (Don) Hoole, John (Cathie) Kelly, Rita (Jeff) Doerr, Tim (Elaine) Kelly, and Bill Butterworth. Elizabeth is also survived by, and will be warmly remembered by, her 19 grandchildren and her eight great-grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud. She loved her nieces and nephews and that love was returned. A special thank you is made to her niece Ginny Twomey for her frequent visits and her gentle affection for Mom. The family wishes to thank the staff at West Park Manor for the exceptional, professional and compassionate care that they provided for our mother, especially in these past few weeks. A funeral mass was held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius Church, Stafford Street and Corydon Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6 or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
