Earl was born in Melita, MB on April 19, 1921. He grew up on a farm in Maryfield, SK. He served overseas in the Air Force during the Second World War. Earl then went on to marry Marg and moved to Winnipeg to train as a carpenter. Earl eventually started his own construction business, Flemington Construction, which he ran up to his retirement in 1984. Earl enjoyed curling and was a past president of Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club. He also enjoyed golfing and in his final years, as a member of the A.N.A.F. 283, he enjoyed playing snooker and the yearly Christmas parties with his grandchildren. The family would like to express their thanks to the Doctors and Nurses on the 3rd floor North of the Grace Hospital for their kindness and helpfulness in looking after Earl in his final five weeks of life and to Geri McGrath who has been there for Earl, especially in the past year. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I realize this tribute has come in many years late! However, I was just updating my timeline on Facebook and I mentioned that I had worked for him during the summer of 1970, I spontaneously Googled his name and found his Obituary! My mother died about 6 weeks before Earl did on May 5, 2007. She was 91. He was a good, wonderful man and I thought of him many, many times and have always had great admiration and respect for him! Even now, after these many years after having met him, I am deeply grieving his passing! Even though he did not appear to be a "religious" person, I know one day I will see him again! He was a good man who strongly impacted my young life! I was 20 years old then! Now I am 63. To the the family, feel free to contact me! I live in Alberta now.
