Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryChange in Time and Date of Service HELEN MARIE FERENS Helen passed away at Cottonwoods Extended Care in Kelowna, BC, on Monday, June 11, 2007, in her 74th year. She is survived by her loving family, four daughters: Joanne (Wes) Maclean, Susan Thesen, Cynthia Hodgson, Pamela Ferens; eight grandchildren: Sheldon, Conally, Tiffany, Dan, Kevin, Cory, Candice and Robyn; seven great-grandchildren: Emily, Taylor, Jenna, Lachlan, Isobel, Justin and Devin; siblings: Ruth Ferens (Nick), Pat Kabaluk (Gordon), Bill Posaluko, Russell Posaluko (Judy), Diana Gunning (Ed), Eva Evason (Barry) and May Kowalke (Ron). Predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Katherine; husband John; daughter Gloria; brother Mayer; sister Annie and brother Daniel. Helen was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church throughout her life. She was a member of the U.C.W.L.C. for many years including being President, sat on church councils and sang in the choir. Her love for music was passed on to her daughters, each of them accomplished singers, dancers or musicians. She loved to do needlework, and many of us have her embroidered pictures, delicate doilies, afghans or quilts. She endured a lot of strife in her life, but was a kind and gentle soul whom we all loved. The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears . Prayer service will be held on Monday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m. from Sobering Funeral Chapel, Beausejour, MB. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m. from the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, Beausejour, with interment to follow in the Holy Ghost Parish Cemetery. Should family and friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 204 - 1755 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC V1Y 5V5.
