Barbara leaves to cherish her memory forever her loving husband of 38 years Barry Burkitt and special friend Benji; daughters, Cindy Burkitt; Shari Burkitt (Don) and grandchildren Derek and Kaitlan; mother Grace Winter; sisters, Susan (Jim) Lechner; Lou (Neil) Thorndycraft; father-in-law Russell Burkitt; sisters-in-law, Heather (Dennis) Titchkosky; Dianne Burkitt; Terry Burkitt; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Barbara was predeceased by her father Robert Winter, mother-in-law Edna Burkitt and brother-in-law Brian Burkitt. Barbara enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest, in spite of the challenges she so courageously faced in recent years. She was a very giving person who always put others first. Barbara was loved by all who knew her. Throughout the many places she lived in her life, Barbara made and maintained many friends who meant so much to her. Her most recent years were spent in Grandview where she volunteered with Grandview Residential Clients. She could be seen riding her convertible through town every morning on her way for coffee. Barbara spent many hours quilting, crocheting, knitting, and cross-stitching and made many gorgeous gifts for her daughters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mom was blessed to have two places to call home. Barbara and Barry recently retired back to Morden, a place she always considered home. Barbara looked forward to each spring and getting back to their summer home at Clear Lake where she enjoyed nature, going for Bean Frez's, and her favorite restaurant T.R. McCoys. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Home Care workers who gave their time tirelessly, and gave her special care and attention. Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held for close family and friends only on June 20, 2007 at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Barbara would be so pleased if you would consider a donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Manitoba (Morden Branch) 400 Stephen Street Morden, MB R6M 1W3.
