Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryABDOOL SALAM June 4, 1924 - June 16, 2007 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Abdool Salam on June 16 at the Grace Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. Abdool will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 57 years Halima; seven children: Bebi Abadeen (Zinool); Buddy Salaam (Ashma), Patricia Salam (Greg), Janet Salam Stoughton (Bill), Kam Salaam, Naz Salaam (Malika) and Zaleena Salaam (Luis); 15 grandchildren, Kris, Shaun, Zane, Amanda, Matthew, Mela, Michael, Jennifer, Victoria, Melissa, Aaron, Amelia, Kyle, Kayla and Kassandra and four great-grandchildren. he also leaves to cherish his memory his nieces, Angela, Zalini and Malini and numerous relatives and friends. Abdool was born in Wakenaam, Guyana, South America. He married Halima Najeer in 1950. As a worker in the sugar canefields, Abdool worked hard and long hours in order to provide for his family. He moved to Winnipeg in 1979, and worked in the housekeeping department of Delta Hotel for many years before retiring. He was a very generous, loving and kind man, whose greatest joy was providing for his family. As a devoted family man, his happiest moments were when he was surrounded by family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grand children. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at the Grace Hospice for the wonderful, compassionate care, the staff of 5 North at the Grace Hospital and Drs. Joshua and George. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Monday, June 18 at 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Islamic service will be at 2:00 p.m. on the same day at the Manitoba Islamic Association, 2445 Waverley Street followed by burial at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Flowers are gratefully declined.
