VICTOR ROBERT REID August 9, 1945 June 16, 2007 Peacefully, on June 16, 2007, in the arms of his wife Judy and his children by his side, Vic passed away after a courageous battle with kidney cancer at the age of 61. Remaining to cherish Vic's memory are his wife and soulmate for 42 years, Judy; sons, Scott (Carolyn), Brent (Marcie); grandchildren, Dana, Lindsay, Kellen and Travis; brother David (Gail); brother-in-law Doug (Colleen), his nieces and nephews, and many good friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Betty and Dave Reid. Vic grew up in the West End attending Greenway, General Wolfe and Daniel MacIntyre schools. He spent summers at Grand Marais and the rest of his time was spent at Orioles Community Club, where he developed his love of sport which remained with him his entire life. After graduating he began his career in the electrical construction field, starting out as a counter salesperson and ending with his own business V. R. Reid Associates. Throughout those 40 plus years he left his thumbprint on many projects, most recently CancerCare Manitoba, MTS Centre and at his death he was working on the new Manitoba Hydro building. During this time he also developed lasting friendships, spent time mentoring his teams, and if Vic was on the job, it would get finished on time and within budget. His loyalty and integrity was beyond reproach. Vic truly loved his work, but it came second to his family. He instilled in his sons the same work ethics, sense of fair play, strong family ties and his love of sport, spending countless hours coaching and teaching throughout the years. He was so very proud of them. He loved family camping trips in the mountains, weekends at the lake, trips to Vegas, sleepovers with his grandchildren, and watching them grow, golf with his buddies, playing baseball and hockey, watching TSN with his boys, New Year's with Erin and Mike, quiet walks with his wife. We will miss him dearly, but we know that he will be watching over us all and when we stumble, we will hear him say, Geez what did I tell you . The family would like to thank all our friends, co-workers, doctors, nurses for their support and care. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway Ave. with Rev. Terry Hidichuk officiating. Interment will follow in Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vic's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway Ave. - 783-7211
