Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKELLY ESTHER COLLEEN SHEARER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kelly Shearer (nee Bileski) on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, ON. Kelly leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband David R. J. Shearer; beloved mother Bonnie (Lyon) Bileski, and dear brother Randy Bileski. Kelly will be sadly missed by her extended family, Jessie and Murray Shearer of Swan River, MB; Katherine Shearer (John Charowsky, Paul Charowsky) of Bowser, BC, and Grant Shearer of Kamloops, BC. Kelly was predeceased by her grandparents, Hattie Irene (Nauss) and Wes Lyon; Eugenia (Jenny Negrych) and Kasimir Bileski. Kelly was born on August 12, 1961 in Winnipeg, MB. She attended Balmoral Hall School, Hastings School and John H. Smith School. One of her proudest achievements was the formation of her own company, Executive Home Services (EHS), which she successfully administered for approximately five years, prior to her illness. Kelly had many varied interests. She was an avid gardener, each year carefully nurturing her beautiful flower gardens. She loved to cook and loved to experiment with new recipes. Family and friends enjoyed being the beneficiaries of her culinary skills. Kelly particularly enjoyed celebrating special occasions. She took special care with home decorating and meal preparation at Christmas time...one of her favourite holidays. She took pleasure in creating a beautiful, festive, warm and inviting atmosphere in her home for family and friends to enjoy. Kelly was a kind and generous person who touched the lives of many. She lived her life with honesty, dignity, grace, determination, strength and acceptance. These attributes served her well as she bravely fought failing health and endured five major surgeries in the past several months. The family has been deeply touched by the outpouring of affection and support offered during this difficult time. We particularly would like to thank Dr. Zane Cohen and the 14 South nursing staff; Dr. Randy Wax, Dr. Stephen Lapinsky, Dr. Tom Stewart and the I.C.U. nursing staff; Pastor Betty Lynch Powers and Pastor Blessing Anyanwu, Chaplains; and, Catherine Coulthard, Andrea Moore and Barbara J. Beveridge, Department of Social Work at Mount Sinai Hospital. We would also like to thank Dr. Clifford Yaffe and the 7A South nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, for their compassionate care of Kelly over the past 15 months and for helping her feel like family . During her illness, Kelly drew strength from the many acts of kindness from family and friends. She especially looked forward to the letters of encouragement and care packages she received from the Shearer family. Special thanks to Marg Holmes, Kelly's close friend, for her unfailing friendship; Joyce Veert and many others for their friendship; Lori Wheeler and Saverio Castagna for their constant supply of beautiful floral arrangements throughout these difficult months; and to Gail Henry for her visits, prayers and loving support to the family. A memorial service will be held at Bethesda Church, 1350 Grant Ave., Winnipeg on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception. A private family interment will be held at Garry Memorial Park in Winnipeg. If friends so wish, donations in Kelly's memory may be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada, Winnipeg Chapter, or to a charity of their choice.
