Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA MAY BOWES 1916 - 2007 Peacefully, on June 13, 2007, Anna passed away at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 91 years. Ann was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Theresa Bowes; infant brother Arthur; brother Ken in 1994; sister Lillian in 1995, and beloved niece Pat in 1983. She is survived by her sister-in-law Rita Bowes; nephews, George (Marg) Bond, Glen (Pat) Bond; niece Beverly (Ron Schaeffer), Maureen (Don) Stevenson, Jim (Denise) Bowes, Len (Margo) Bowes, Glenys (Bill) Tedford; many great-nieces and nephews and 12 great-great-nieces and nephews. Anna was born on April 4, 1916 in Winnipeg. She had all her schooling in Winnipeg and graduated from St. John's High School in 1934. In 1938 she moved to Toronto to work with children. In 1942 she completed the Canadian Mother Craft Nursing Course and worked as a private nurse and also in the nursery of the Women's College Hospital in Toronto. Ann worked with the World Force of Moral Rearmament and came to know children and families from all over the world. She returned to Winnipeg in 1960, and became a Licensed Practical Nurse and started nursing at the Winnipeg General Hospital. In 1965 she completed the first Intensive Care Course offered at the hospital by Dr. Cherniak. In 1973 she completed the special one-year course at the Misericordia School of Nursing, offered to Practical Nurses to become a Registered Nurse. She received the Medical Nursing Award and returned to work at Health Sciences Centre. Ann retired in 1981. In later years she enjoyed many activities with all her dear friends at Lions Place. Ann also had her special family who played a great part in her life and were greatly loved: Tony (Rae) Reynolds, Michael (Kathryn) Reynolds, Barrie (Rita) Reynolds, Peter (Sally) Reynolds, Jennie (John) Bocock and their children. A special thank you to the staff at Lions Place and at the Health Sciences Centre Ward GA4. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 25, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Lions Place, 610 Portage Ave. Remembrances may be made to the Children's Hospital Research Foundation, 840 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1S1.
