STANLEY JOHN DUDZIC September 14, 1917 June 19, 2007 With great sadness we announce that our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Tuesday morning, June 19, 2007 at the Gimli Health Centre, at the age of 89. Stanley is survived by wife Eileen, of 62 years; son Albert (Janice), granddaughters, Jadine and Cassandra; daughter Lorraine (Wayne), his daughter Michelle and grandchildren, Kayla and Michael. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Anna Dudzic, sisters, Kay, Florence, Marian, and brother Albert. Stan was born in Beausejour, MB, moving to Winnipeg at an early age and then to Husavick, MB. He worked as a farmer, fisherman and miner and enlisted in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. He served with the 4th Armored Division in France, Belgium and Holland and was reported missing in action September 1944. He was later found to have been wounded and was in a prisoner of war camp, where he spent the last nine months of the war, and was on a forced march. Stan was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipeg and served on committees as Vice President and Financial Secretary. He was also an Original Member of the East Interlake Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood since 1990. Stan retired from the City of Winnipeg Transit as an Electrician after 37 years. He moved to Gimli in 1984 and joined Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and continued to work for the church. He served as an elder for several years. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Cary Chapnick and the staff of Gimli Health Centre for the excellent care they provided Stan. Prayers will be held on Friday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gimli, MB. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, June 23 at 10:30 a.m., also at the church with Rev. Fr. Harry Chuckry officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Foley, MB. Pallbearers will be: Dennis Firman, John Hykawy, Randy Kravetz, James Kravetz, Rick Kravetz and Joe Kravetz. Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Kravetz, Ben Pidverney and Michael Charney. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Bishop Velychkowsky Martyrs Shrine , 250 Jefferson Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2V 0M6 or the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gimli, MB.
