ALMA LILIAN BARKER April 23, 1928 - June 10, 2007 It is with great sorrow and sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Alma Barker, on Sunday, June 10, 2007. Alma was predeceased by her husband Jim in 2004, and daughter Joan in 2003. She leaves to cherish her many memories, her two sons, Garry (Janis), Robert (Becca); her grandchildren, Lauralee (Peter) Merkley, Shelley (Brent) Ellis, Allan Bates, Lisa Barker, Nicholas Barker, Christin Barker (Pier Chiappetta), Tracey Barker; her great-grandchildren, Chantelle, Curtis, Devon, Chad, Erin, Liam, Shauna, and great-great-grandchild Bailey-Ann; as well as her ex-daughter-in-law Louise Harlow. Alma enjoyed spending time with family and friends, bowling, crafts and going for walks. She was an active member of the Kakabeka Legion #225 in Thunder Bay where she made many long life friends. Alma also spent numerous years volunteering at the hospital gift shop in Thunder Bay. Alma was a caring and loving person who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2007 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment will follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to River East Personal Care Home and staff for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
