MARIE IONE BYTHEWAY September 24, 1932 June 16, 2007 Peacefully, in the early hours of Saturday, June 16, Ione Bytheway (nee Harvey), passed away at the Seven Oaks General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Ione was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and is survived by her beloved of 50 years, Harold; her daughter Leah, sons, Brad and Keith, daughter-in-law Colleen and eight grandchildren, Dana, Brandon, Jason, Brayson, Hayden, Brock, Foster and Graeme. Ione was preceded in death by her only brother Gordon and her parents, Verna and Cecil Harvey. As a member of Norwood United Church, Ione devoted much time to the church where she worked with the ladies UCW Unit # 5 to support the many fellowship activities and fund raising efforts of the church. Ione's community efforts didn't stop there; leadership in Girl Guides, teaching Sunday School and volunteering either her time or baking talents for many good causes. Ione loved to golf and was long standing member of the St. Boniface Golf Club where she developed many lifelong friends. The family would like to thank the kind medical and nursing staff of Seven Oaks General Hospital (Floor 3 Nursing Station 3) for their loving care of Ione over the past eight months. A memorial service, conducted by the Reverend Susan Tough will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2007 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue, Aubrey Street entrance. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honour of Ione may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research: (michaeljfox.org). Ione will be remembered and is loved by her family and many friends for her kind heart and incredible spirit, her courage in the face of many heath challenges and her great capacity for laughter and fun.
