SOPHIE SARA SACHER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, Oma , and sister, Sophie Sara Sacher (nee Kehler) on June 19, 2007 at the age of 76 years. Mom will be deeply missed by her sons, Wilhelm (Bill) and Sue Ann, Richard and partner Judi, and daughter Monica and partner John Gustavson. Her four grandchildren, Jake (Charlene), Melissa, Elizabeth and Tyler will all miss her terribly, especially her cookies and funny antidotes. She is also survived by her remaining brother John Kehler, step-sisters, Katie Kehler, Anne DeFehr and Velma (Chuck) Alford. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Willibald (Bill) Sacher in 1989, her father Johann Kehler (1938), mother Sara DeFehr (1988), her brothers, Victor Kehler (1962) and Jake Kehler (1988), step-sister Helen Regehr (1997) and sister-in-law Elizabeth Kehler (1968). Sophie was born in Gruenfeld, Ukraine on November 10, 1930 to parents Johann and Sara (Froese) Kehler. She had three older brothers, John, Jake and Victor, who with her family was the foundation for wonderful childhood memories in a Mennonite family. The worship of God was the focal point of her life and she personally accepted the Lord as her Saviour at the age of 13 and was baptized in 1949. It is the faith in the Lord God that guided mom throughout her life. Mom and her family arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1947. They eventually settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba where many of her relatives also lived. Mom eventually married Willibald (Bill) Sacher and devoted her life to her husband and three children. She worked in Winnipeg School Division #1, loved to golf, ski, sew and especially quilt. She attended the Springfield Heights Mennonite Church where she sang in the choir, lead the womens' auxiliary and supported many charitable foundations. She will always be remembered for her cooking, baking and love for people. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care, 8th floor and the Grace Hospice for supporting us and taking such great care of mom. Funeral service will be held Monday, June 25, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay with interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Viewing prior to the service. Donations in Sophie's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON 109 - 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. FRIENDS FUNERAL SERVICE 2146 Main Street 339-5555
