Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY MARGUERITE MCINTYRE (nee ESSELMONT) December 12, 1921 June 22, 2007 Peacefully, with her family by her side, our cherished mother and grandmother, Dorothy McIntyre passed away at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 85. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Neil and Glenn (Carla); grandchildren, Bryan and Heather, brother-in-law Keith (Mary) and family, as well as many relatives and friends. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Lorne; sister Violet, brothers George and Bert, and her parents, Robert and Ann. After 53 years of marriage, mom felt great sorrow with dad's passing in 2002. Throughout this hardship, mom brought strength to our family with her faith in God and calm, caring ways. Dot, as she was known to her friends, was born in Transcona and lived her entire life there. She made many life long friendships, some starting as early as elementary school days at Central School. These friendships were very dear to her. She took great pride in her grandchildren and was often seen strolling around the neighbourhood with them in their younger days and attending many sporting activities as they grew up. Mom was a loving and giving person who took great pride in her family. There was always a hot meal on the table no matter what time anyone came home. Mom especially enjoyed family vacations, whether it be time spent at the family cottage in Grand Marais, or visiting with relatives in Ontario or Scotland. Mom was a long time member of the Transcona Memorial United Church, U.C.W., Rebekah Lodge and sewing club. She spent many years volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program. She could often be seen helping out at church functions behind the scenes, never one to seek the spotlight. The family wishes to thank Home Care for their many years of support and also the Staff at Concordia Hospital for the care that they provided. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West with Rev. Carol Fletcher officiating. Interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
