ELIZABETH FERNIE It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Fernie at River East Personal Care Home on June 20, 2007 at the age of 87. After a brief and courageous battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully and with dignity with her sister Dorothy at her side. Regardless of the many tragedies in Betty's life, she always had a beautiful smile and a cheery hello for all her remaining family and caregivers throughout the years. She was predeceased by her two sons, Gary in 1961, David in 1992; three sisters and three brothers. Many thanks to several nurses, caregivers, and staff at River East Personal Care Home for their care and concern over the years. A very special thanks to a great lady, Doris Goodmanson, for her genuine love, caring and concern for Betty's well being while at River East. As Betty would say 'thanks a lot'. A very grateful thank-you to Linda Saharchuk for her unwavering support during this difficult time. Betty will lovingly be remembered by her sister Dorothy Kreviak of Toronto; son-in-law Douglas Morin of Winnipeg, and numerous nieces and nephews. At her request, there will be no funeral service. A graveside service will take place at Brookside Cemetery, Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
