EVELYN GWENDOLINE SMITH (nee FREUND) Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Gwen passed away peacefully at Strathmore, Alberta on June 22, 2007 at the age of 65 years with her loving husband and best friend of 43 years, Malcolm, at her side. She is survived by their beautiful children, Susan (Peter) Lodge, Nancy (Jason) Molnar, Tim (Marisa) Smith, Blair (Christine) Smith and Rob (Peggy) Johnson. She also leaves behind two dear sisters, Marceta (Ed) Kurytnick and Marion Freund, as well as eight precious grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob, Cheyenne, Mackenzie, Shelby, Bradley, Isabel, and Ryan. Gwen was predeceased by her brother Wilfred (Dorothy) Freund and her parents, Rudolph and Elsie Freund. Gwen was born in Brokenhead, Manitoba, was married in 1964 and moved to Calgary in 1970 where she made many wonderful friends, raised her family, and worked until she retired in 2000 from the Foothills Hospital Radiation Department. She then moved with Mac out to their dream home on an acreage near Gleichen, Alberta. Her family and friends will always remember her incredible green thumb, delicious cooking and how she loved everyone. A special thank you to all who cared for Gwen. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Lord Of All Lutheran Church, Strathmore at 1:00 p.m. Interment Strathmore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Strathmore Hospital Palliative Care Unit 200 Brent Boulevard, Strathmore, AB T1P 1J9. WHEATLAND FUNERAL HOME LTD.
