SHIRLEY GIASSON It is with great sadness to announce that Shirley passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit on Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the age of 46 years. Shirley was born on February 5, 1961, in Winnipeg, daughter of the late George and Laura Lamoureux. She is survived by her beloved husband Gilles Giasson; sons, Jayson and Daniel; mother-in-law Agnes Giasson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Monica Giasson, Paul and Janice Giasson, Lynne and Ed Chmielowski, Claude and Jeanne Giasson; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and relatives. She was predeceased by her parents; father-in-law Leo Giasson; and her brother Georgie. Shirley shared a unique lifelong bond of friendship with Lynne Barr and Jackie Bungay. Shirley was a very kind, generous and loving person who welcomed everyone into her home. She had a great sense of humour and was devoted to her family and friends. Shirley worked for many years for Sobeys and at the time of her death she was the deli a la carte manager at the Reenders store. Shirley enjoyed bowling and was past president of the U of M Bowling League at the Dakota Lanes. She played slo-pitch baseball for the Brew Crew team within the Winakwa Community Club league. She looked forward to Sunday nights at the community club at selling 50/50 draws and chatting with many baseball friends. For many years she spent running the canteen for the Winakwa Community Centre. She was a canvasser for various charities. The family would like to express thanks to all staff at the Health Sciences Centre and a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the St. Boniface General Hospital for the excellent care and compassion they provided our wife and mother, they are truly angels in the making. Much thanks to Shirley's niece Brenda Adams for her care and attention during her hospital stay. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at the Winakwa Community Centre, 980 Winakwa Road, St. Boniface.
