JAMES KNOX KIRKLAND It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Kirkland, peacefully on June 24, 2007, at the age of 79 years. James leaves to mourn his loving family, including brothers, Ken, Mac (Mimi); daughter Cathy (George); three sons, Jim (Marlene), Malcolm and Glenn, as well as his dear friend and companion Carmen Collins. His grandchildren, Stephanie, Devon, Donavin and Ryan, as well as his great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours will sadly miss him. James was predeceased by his loving wife Audrey; parents, Mabel and James Kirkland; his sisters, Irene and Dorothy, and many treasured friends. James was born in Elmwood on May 8, 1928 and lived in the East Kildonan area his entire life. Grandpa enjoyed crossword puzzles, pastries / lemon meringue pie, many television shows and visiting with family and friends. Regardless of tragedies in life, Dad always had a smile, a witty sense of humour and a cheery Hello for family and friends throughout the years. In keeping with family wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. The family wished to express thanks to the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service for their quick response, as well as to the staff at the Concordia Hospital.
