Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELLIOTT ALFRED DOWBIGGIN September 30, 1927 to June 25, 2007 In his bed at his home, Elliott Alfred Dowbiggin of Winnipeg peacefully drew his last breath, and escaped the illness that challenged his body. His immediate family had the honour of helping him through the final steps of this journey, and were able to hold him, talk to him, and let him know how loved he is. Left to share the wonderful memories he helped create are his wife of 56 years, Isabel; his son Bob (Heather); daughter Paula (George); grandchildren, Justin (Dayna), Sarah (Adam), Alex, Sean, Megan and Robyn. Counted among his family members are a select few very close friends and neighbours - you know who you are - who enriched his life even further. Predeceased by his daughter Lauranne, and granddaughter Rebecca. Elliott had a long career in Human Resource Management, and Staff Training and Development. His insights into people, his ethics and belief systems, and his passion for equity and balance between economics and human rights placed him well ahead of his time in the field. It is those same traits that contributed to his success, both in his career and as a man. Elliott enjoyed music, world affairs, travelling, curling, golfing, fishing, camping and canoeing. While in his 70s, Elliott followed a dream of his, and joined Spirit's Call Choir. His rich baritone voice could be heard throughout the hall, and the enjoyment on his face as he sang was a gift in itself. As with everything he did, he participated fully in all his activities. Elliott's number one love was always his family. His love, his spirit, his passion, and his intellect have left footprints within our hearts, and we will nurture his legacy and grow it forward', just as he nurtured his roses, his begonias, and his orchids. The immediate family would like to thank the Oncology staff of Grace General Hospital, the palliative care / home care nurses, friends and adopted family members for their caring support. Dr. Pat, Kathy, Chris, and Mariette, in particular, were amazing in their dedication, genuine caring, ability to get things done, and talent for making the rough spots just a little bit easier. We are grateful. At Elliott's request, a private gathering will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, we know that Elliott would want you to live every moment of your life to the fullest, and pass hugs to those that matter most to you.
