Date of Passing: Jun 25, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRIAN ALLAN JOHNSON It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our dad Brian on Monday, June 25, 2007, at the Glenboro Health Centre at the age of 75 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Maxine of 48 years; his father Leo and mother Laura (Dodds). Dad will be sadly missed by his son Brent of Brandon; daughters, Alice (Ward) Ficek of Winnipeg and Sandra (Rob) Haithwaite of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Jordan, Tanner, Meghan and Evan. Dad was born in Glenboro on February 4, 1932, to parents Laura and Leo Johnson. After finishing school, he worked in the family general store. The family later moved to Winnipeg to operate a general store on Ellice Avenue. It was here he met his true love, Maxine, and was married in September 1953. After many years of working with Don Pell's and the Hudson Bay Wholesale Co., the family moved to Brandon in 1972 so Brian and Maxine could operate Brian's Gulf Wayfare Restaurant. After a successful 20 years of managing the restaurant, he retired to enjoy time at the cottage and he also acquired a great love for baking. Brian was a kind, generous and well loved man with a gentle soul who always put family and friends first. He truly touched the lives of everyone he met. He could strike up a conversation with anyone he met and usually did! We will miss you always dad and Afi. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Glenboro Personal Care Home and Glenboro Health Centre for their care and compassion. A celebration of Brian's life will be held on Friday, June 29, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. in the Willmor Chapel, 415 Broadway St., Glenboro, with Pastor Carol Janke officiating. Interment will follow in the Glenboro Cemetery. Friends that so desire, memoriams may be made in Brian's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Westman Region, 437 - 9th S., Brandon, MB R7A 4A9.
