JARVIS BOYCHUK January 18, 1936 - June 26, 2007 Jarvis passed away peacefully at his home, with his wife Kathy and his two sons Jeff and Brad at his side, on June 26, 2007, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Jarvis was born in Vita, MB, and moved to Winnipeg as a teenager to take up the trade of auto body repairs and car sales. He owned and operated Stapleton Auto Body in Elmwood. Over the years he ventured into commercial construction, home renovations, carpentry, pawn shop and restaurant ownership, but always came back to auto body repair with his business located on Thomas Avenue in Elmwood. His skill as an auto body man was second to none where perfect was the only rule. Those who knew Jarvis will remember him always laughing, joking and teasing, but will also remember the kind-hearted soul who went out of his way for his friends. He welded, fixed dents, did minor mechanical repairs, cleared snow with his pay loader, and did so many other little favours, all for only a cup of green tea. Jarvis loved to travel, and together with his wife Kathy, visited many Caribbean islands, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Venezuela, Mexico, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia and Costa Rica. He also loved fiddle music, polka dancing, his German Shepherd dogs, and most of all, going for tea with his friends. Jarvis will be sadly missed by his wife Kathy; his two sons, Jeff and Brad; and his four grandchildren, Dustin, Chelsea, Cassandra and Dylan. He was predeceased by his parents Mike and Mary Boychuk; two brothers, John and Bill; and two sisters, Anne Boychuk and Nancy Chrusciel. He is survived by one brother Dan Boychuk. Sincere thanks go to St. Boniface CancerCare, specifically Dr. Wong and Denise Campbell where Jarvis was taking chemotherapy treatments in 2006. After February 2007 Jarvis stayed at home under the care of the River East community palliative care team. Without the help of the nurses, Anne and Harriet, and the homecare aides, Jarvis would not have been able to remain at home where he wanted to be. They made the last few months very special to his family with their skill, guidance and compassion. We can't thank them enough. Services will be held at Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB, at 10:30 a.m. on June 29, 2007, with Pastor Ron Koleba. Viewing will be before the service. Donations in Jarvis's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, Winnipeg Pet Rescue or the St. Boniface CancerCare.
