ETHEL (PADDY) KATZ Ethel (Paddy) Katz passed away peacefully at the Sharon Home on Sunday, June 3, 2007. Paddy was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Widow of the late W. S. (Bill) Katz; mother of Sondra and Martin Cohn, Janice and Frank Kanovsky; grandmother of Susan Cohn, Lorne Cohn and Miriam Blumstock, David and Shelley Kanovsky, Marshall and Richard Kanovsky (of blessed memory); great-grandmother of Thomas and Michael Schneider, Matthew, Sydney and Noah Cohn, Brittany, Courtney and Sydney Kanovsky. Paddy will be deeply missed by all her family. Paddy, as she was nicknamed at a young age, was born on August 11, 1912 in West Selkirk, MB. She was the daughter of Zlota and David Gold and had three sisters to whom she was very devoted. She met and married Bill Katz in Winnipeg and they spent 40 loving years together. Paddy was always very supportive in his various community endeavors throughout their marriage. Paddy was fortunate, years after Bill's passing, to marry Chick Choslovsky and they had two happy years together until his death. The family wishes to give special thanks to her caring companion of 12 years, Lolita Rubio. We also wish to thank Rowena Cucio her part time companion, Paddy's other caregivers over the years, and the devoted staff of the Sharon Home. The graveside funeral was held at the Rosh Pina Memorial Park on Tuesday, June 5, 2007. Pallbearers were Lorne Cohn, Gerry Hochman, Michael Hochman, Jonathan Hochman, Jack Katz and Gerry Rosenby. Donations may be made in Paddy's memory to the Jewish Foundation to her fund or a charity of choice.
