GERALDINE DOERN (nee HUFF) September 2, 1932 - June 26, 2007 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and aunt at the age of 74. She fought a courageous battle with cancer, however she surrendered to the disease on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 with her family by her side. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her husband Walter; her son Doug (Laurie); her daughter Janice (Mel); her son Russell (Joanne); grandchildren, Jarrod, Melody, Daniel and Kiana; her sister Lorraine Kein (Don), as well as many nephews, nieces, family members and friends. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Ida and Reinhold Huff and son-in-law Bill Copsey. Mom was born in Morris, MB in 1932 where she met and married Walter Doern in 1950. Mom and Dad enjoyed 57 wonderful years together sharing in a multitude of fun times from Sunday dinners, vacations, camping with the kids, caring for the grandchildren, caring for pet Dusty, gardening, and in Mom's later years when health restricted her travel, she particularly enjoyed those short trips to South Beach Casino. Mom was a great cook and noted for the best pies. She took great pride in her home and particularly enjoyed outdoor gardening where every year, she boasted a beautiful, awesome looking yard filled with a gorgeous array of many flowers. Her ultimate love and enjoyment was for her husband and her children and grandchildren. After her retirement from The Bay as a Bridal Consultant she embarked on her new career of caring for her grandchildren until they were old enough for school. Mom would be described by her family as warm, gentle, generous, compassionate and always putting her family's needs before hers. Her dedication and devotion to this profession won her the Mother of the Year award everyday of her life in the eyes of her family. How do we now live without you? The family wishes to extend their appreciation towards those special staff members from Concordia Hospital who went out of their way to help Mom be comfortable and at peace. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., with reception to follow. If friends so wish, memorial donations may be made towards the Niche purchased for Mom at Chapel Lawn. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
