PETER DUCHECK Peter Ducheck, aged 88 years passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on June 27, 2007 at the Selkirk General Hospital with his wife Millie and daughter Lynne by his side. He was born November 25, 1918 on the family homestead in Rossdale, MB. He farmed all his life and also operated a market garden. Peter had served on the board of the Manitoba Vegetable Commission. Peter was elected as councilor for the R.M. of St. Andrew's in 1953 and served until 1975 at which time he became Reeve. He served as Reeve until retiring in 1989. Peter sat on the Clean Environment Board for three years. He was one of the original directors on the Selkirk and District Planning Board and also was instrumental in the building of the St. Andrew's Community Club/Arena. Peter is survived by his wife Millie (Gusnosky) the love of his life for 62 years; son Mark (Socorra) of Calgary and grandsons, Delano (Joanne) and Daniel; daughter Dr. Lynne (Dr. Bruce) Ryckman of Lower Fort Garry and granddaughters, Julie Tyler (Drew) and Christine; daughter Lori Ehrenworth (Brian) of Toronto and grandchildren, Christopher, Michael and Nicole and his sister Anne Malis of St. Benedicts. He was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Anne; son Ralph (1979); brothers, Henry (1997), Joe (2005), Frank (June 23, 2007) and sister Agnes Burdiak (1995). Divine Liturgy will be held on Monday, July 2 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Mary's Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, Rossdale with Fr. Richard Soo officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Miles, Reg Miller, Nick Malagus, Bruce Melnick, Peter Skazyk and Ernie Malis. Thank you to Fr. Richard Soo, Dr. Lindenschmidt, Dr. Demsas and the nurses at the Selkirk General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Palliative Care, Selkirk and District General Hospital, Box 5000, Selkirk, MB, R1A 2M2 or CancerCare, 157 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 0R9.
