MARY WAYNE (nee WAZNY) August 8, 1932 - June 23, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Mary Wayne, on June 23, 2007, at the age of 74 years. She died peacefully at Riverview Health Centre after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Mom will be deeply missed by her sons, Ronald (Diane) and Stephen (Kimberley); and her four grandchildren Melissa, Mary-Ellen, Malerie and Tyler. She is also survived by her brothers, Frank (Adeline) and Richard (Carol). She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Mary Wazny; brothers, Walter, Eugene, Leo, Max and Edward. Mom was born in the Lac du Bonnet area and moved to Winnipeg at the age of 16 where she completed her high school education. Shortly thereafter, she graduated with a business degree from Success College and worked as an accountant for several companies. Her accounting experiences lead her to the position of secretary-treasurer for the municipality of Victoria Beach from 1966 to 1976. In 1978, Mom graduated with a Manitoba Municipal Administrators Certificate with honours from the University of Manitoba. Subsequently, as of 1978, she was appointed to the position of secretary-treasurer of the Village of Dunnottar, where she worked until retirement in 1990. Mom was a very kind, generous, caring and loving person who welcomed everyone into her home. She always looked forward to serving her traditional dinners at Easter and Christmas time to family and friends. During her retirement, Mom enjoyed gardening, knitting, cooking, baking and doing challenging crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed and treasured several trips to eastern Canada with her niece Linda. The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors and staff at CancerCare Manitoba. We would especially like to thank Dr. Paul Kerr and Dr. Ralph Wong for their compassion and care of our mother. In compliance with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Humane Society of Winnipeg.
