MARGARET OLSON With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, stepmother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret (Porteous) Olson, with her family by her side, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on June 21, 2007, at the age of 77 years. Margaret is survived by one sister Dorothy Webster; children, Darrell (Sharon), David (Marlene), Dayce Doe, Murray (Mary), Mike (Marion); stepchildren, Helen Brinn (Bob), Paul Olson (Penny), Koralie Cockle (George), David Olson (Kathy); grandchildren, Tammy, Monique, Ryan, Chester, Nathan, Lisa, Melanie, Trevor, Cameron, Chantel, Deanne, Rebecca, Tony, Kristen, George, Matthew, Randy and Kellie; great-grandchildren, Brandi, Teale, Graclinn, Avianna, Jaryn, Lyric, Raya, Madison, Nova, Hunter, and Keely. Margaret will also be missed by sisters-in-law, Francis, Alieta, Sylvia, and Pearl; brother-in-law Donald; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Eugene in 2006; siblings, Joe, Corrine, Gordon, Patrick, Violet, and Joan; granddaughter Lexi Dawn; grandson Shane; and first husband Donald Porteous. Margaret was born in Winnipeg and raised in the Ashern district. She worked as a seamstress all her life. She was meticulous and extremely talented. Her creativity shone through her love for crafts, quilting and everything had a special touch. She also enjoyed gardening, wild berry picking, preserving, cooking and her love of flowers was very deep, as she loved every aspect. She will be dearly and deeply missed by all her friends and neighbours and all who knew her. The ceremony to celebrate Margaret's life was held at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Rev. Barbara Jardine officiated. Eulogy was prepared and read by Patsy Klippenstein. Pallbearers were Allan McMillan, Ken Resch, Nathan Doe, Trevor Porteous, Chantel Porteous and Rebecca Porteous. Honorary pallbearers were all the grandchildren. Interment took place at Rosewood Memorial Gardens on Thursday, June 28, 2007. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Margaret to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9, or to a charity of choice.
