HOWARD SYLVESTER WARDELL
Born: May 14, 1920
Date of Passing: Jun 27, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHOWARD SYLVESTER WARDELL May 14, 1920 - June 27, 2007 Dad's prayers were finally answered when God took him home to be reunited with his beloved Marjorie. Dad will be forever loved and dearly missed by his four children, Robert (Lisa), Douglas (Karen) of Edmonton, Alberta, Pat (Brian) of Burlington, Ontario, and Lorna (Paul) of Airdrie, Alberta; his 11 grandchildren, 16 (almost 17) great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dad was the surviving infant of twins (a girl) born to Silas and Agnes Wardell. He spent his early years on the farm in Glenora, Manitoba, and it was during this time that he met Mom. They married on June 12, 1940, continuing to farm for a few more years and then travelling to Winnipeg where they would make their home. It was in 1946 that Dad began his 37-year career as a bus driver with the Winnipeg Transit. Those years meant Early to Bed, Early to Rise and so his welcomed retirement in 1983 afforded him and Mom a more leisurely lifestyle of dancing, travelling and being readily available to help anyone in need. Dad also spent time dabbling at golf and joining The St. Vital Bowling League. After Mom's passing in 2004, Dad moved to Edmonton to be closer to most of his family. These years without Mom were extremely hard on Dad but particularly the past three months. Due to health issues Dad was hospitalized and spent his last days at St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital in Edmonton until his passing on June 27. A family service will be held in Edmonton on July 10 at 2:00 p.m., Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, and in the coming months, Dad's ashes will be brought back to Winnipeg to be buried next to Mom's. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation in Dad's memory can be made to the Canadian Alzheimer Society, 1200 - 20 Eglington Ave. W., Toronto, ON M4R 1K8. Dad, you will be lovingly remembered with your Big Black Cowboy Hat, your Black Cowboy Boots and your many Bolo Ties. We pray you have found peace and contentment in heaven with Mom once again by your side.
