STANLEY HAYEK Stanley Hayek passed away peacefully on June 27, 2007 at St. Boniface Hospital. He was born on September 11, 1929 in Berlo, Manitoba to Anthony and Krestina Hayek. He left behind sons, Philip (Ann Marie), Jeffrey (Laura), and Stewart (Susan), and grandchildren, Christopher, Gillian and Austin. He was predeceased by sister Jennie, and survived by siblings, George, Anthony, Dolly, Robert, and Virginia. He also leaves behind former wife Patricia (nee Peresky), whom he married on October 12, 1957 and with whom he remained lifelong friends. He is survived by special friend Lil Elwood. Stan and his family moved to Camp Morton, Manitoba when he was 12 years old. Despite limited schooling, Stan managed to succeed in a number of interesting occupations including farming, fishing, gold mining, and driving delivery trucks, among others. He spent the latter part of his working life at the Health Sciences Centre, retiring in May 1990. Stan made the most of his retirement years and enjoyed his favourite pastimes including dancing, camping, traveling, and listening to country music. Stan had a lifelong love of sports. He was a baseball umpire for many years, and an avid bowler throughout his life. Stan enjoyed supporting many local sports teams. Stan lived his life surrounded by many loving friends and family and will be greatly missed. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road, with urn placement to follow in Holy Angel Mausoleum.
